I love apps that promote critical thinking and problem solving. Busy Shapes app is a great example of an iPad app that pushes students to think outside the box. This can definitely happen from an early age. Designed for children two years and older, Busy Shapes asks students to move simple objects across their screen to solve puzzles. This app was inspired by the work of Jean Piaget who encouraged children to explore as a means of learning.

Busy Shapes asks children to place shapes in different sized holes in each puzzle. Kids can swipe the screen to pass to another puzzle. Parents and teachers can view a real-time dashboard to monitor progress. Unlike some apps that restart overtime a child exits, Busy Shapes remembers where children left off in a game making it easy to revisit at a later time. This app is available in over twenty languages.
