Unleash Creativity with The Achievery Learning Challenge

Have you explored The Achievery? This year on the blog, I’ve shared how The Achievery gives you quick access to engaging, free lesson plans. Now’s the perfect time to dive back into their resources, thanks to a new challenge they’re hosting for educators.

Today on the blog, I’ll share some of the reasons why I’m super excited about this free platform for educators. I’ll also introduce The Achievery Learning Challenge and share all of the details on how you can participate!

Where Can You Find Free Lessons?

The Achievery was created by AT&T in collaboration with Warner Bros. It provides innovative digital learning experiences for kids and gives teachers access to over 500 videos to share with students. The content covers seven subject categories, including clips from popular movies and television shows.

The left side of the image has a purple background with white text detailing the URL for the challenge, submission deadline of May 9, 2024, and winner announcement on May 10, 2024. The right side features a photo of a teacher and students engaged with a tablet in a classroom setting.

If you’ve followed along with my work for a while, you know that I’m an ASCD author and a big fan of the organization. So, when I first learned about The Achievery, I was excited to hear that the lesson plans on the platform are written by organizations like ASCD, ISTE, Boddle, and more.

As I shared in a February blog post, “Free Digital Lessons and Multimedia Resources,” there are so many options to choose from. I love the content that includes clips from Scooby-Doo and The LEGO Movie. You can certainly find the perfect lesson by using the drop-down menu to look at resources in different content categories. Teachers also have the option to type in a keyword related to what you’re teaching.

Designing Engaging Lessons for Students

The Achievery is adding new lessons and videos to the platform regularly. So it’s the perfect time to sign up for a completely free account. You can find fresh, innovative lesson plans to bring back to your students and colleagues. I was also lucky enough to chat with Shannon Miller all about this topic on a March episode of my Easy EdTech Podcast.

You can press play above or listen to “Designing Engaging Lessons for Students – Bonus Episode with The Achievery” on your favorite podcast platform. In this episode, I chat with educator and librarian Shannon Miller. She shares helpful tips for creating engaging lessons for students. Shannon and I talk about the free resources from The Achievery and how to find standards-aligned resources you can customize for students.

I can’t wait for you to check out The Achievery! There are lots of the free resources and lesson plans on their website. Don’t forget to follow the steps above to enter their spring learning challenge!
