Free Animal Preservation Lesson Plans & Teaching Resources From We Are Teachers

The folks at We Are Teachers have released new animal preservation lesson plans, printables and teaching resources.  These totally free teaching tools are great choices. You can combine high interest topics with informational text, social studies, and science instruction.  Before leaving the classroom to focus on professional development trainings and writing about education technology, I taught in a magnet school for environmental stewardship.  I know how these powerful topics resonate with young learners and it’s always nice to find resources like these to share with teachers.

Animal Preservation Lesson Plans

Free Animal Preservation Lesson Plans & Teaching Resources From We Are TeachersKeep Wild Animals Wild is available at three levels of instruction. Students ages 5 to 7 (grade K-2) are introduced to the concepts of what makes an animal wild and how people can observe and appreciate wildlife responsibly with lesson plans, a student magazine and video.

The same resources are available for students ages 8 to 10 (grade 3-5) to learn about wildlife trade. They’ll find out how it is relevant to them. Students will also see how they can take action to help protect wild animals from wildlife trade.  The resources are also for students ages 11 to 14 (grade 6-8) focus on wildlife trade. Students will certainly learn about its relevance to their world.
