Fog Stone Isle Math Games Gear Up to Combat Summer Slide

Last year I shared special math games for students called Fog Stone Isle from the folks at Cignition. They’ve developed an online fantasy world to help students in fourth through eighth grade master rational number system concepts: fractions, ratios, proportions, and unit rate. With summer break approaching, the Cignition team is working hard to make sure teachers and parents have the resources they need to help students combat the summer slide.

Fog Stone Isle Math Games

If you haven’t checked it out yet, Fog Stone Isle is free for teachers and lets students play through the math games at their own pace, using adaptive technology to monitor student progress. You can have students working on Fog Stone Isle during class time, at an after school club, or in the evenings and on weekends from home or a local library. This makes it a perfect choice for summer break where students have the flexibility to log on and work their way through the fantasy world.

Combat Summer Slide

In Fog Stone Isle, kids solve complex math problems and engage with a variety of math concepts as they create in their very own fantasy world. Before summer break, teachers can use the pre-test created by Cignition to measure a baseline for students. When students return to school after summer break, the new teacher can administer a post-test to see student progress from the start to end of summer. Click here to check out the summer efficacy program.

Students who play Fog Stone Isle this summer will be able to take part in the launch of new games for ratio, proportion, and unit rate. They’ll also be eligible to win a Nintendo switch for the most improved players. If you’re looking for a way to support students in math this summer, definitely check out Fog Stone Isle. If you’d like to let families and students know about the Cignition program you can share this flyer.
