7 Ways to Turn Student Engagement into Student Agency

Student engagement is a term used in many different contexts. As educators, we want students to have interest and ownership in their learning. This month, I’m excited to host a webinar on the connection between student engagement and student agency. We’ll look at how to ensure that student learning experiences are meaningful and relevant for students.

In today’s blog post, I want to share an invitation to a free September webinar and information on Student Success Agency, the organization hosting this special event!

NOTE: This webinar has already taken place, watch the replay here.

Student Engagement Webinar Invitation

On September 21st at 4 PM ET, join me for a free webinar, 7 Ways to Turn Student Engagement into Student Agency. Here is the link to watch the replay, and here is official description:

Rebuilding connections with students and strengthening school community will be an essential part of learning recovery this year. But how do we do that in ways that are authentic for students, address their real needs and concerns, involve them in the process?

Join me for a webinar on the connection between student engagement and student agency to create authentic learning experiences.

During this hour-long webinar Dr. Monica Burns, author of EdTech Essentials (ASCD, 2021) and founder of Class Tech Tips, will examine the intersection of student engagement, social-emotional learning, and student agency. She’ll cover:

  • How to rethink student engagement through the lens of student agency
  • Why having a plan for student engagement is essential
  • Strategies for building social-emotional learning skills while fostering student voice
  • How to plan with social-emotional learning and student engagement in mind

Tune into this webinar for insights and tools you can use as you welcome students back to school and throughout the year.

If you’re not sure if you can make the webinar, use this link to watch the replay, and we’ll send you a replay following the webinar. This way you can watch at your own time and catch up later if you can’t join the live event.

Student Agency in Action

I’m excited to join Student Success Agency (SSA) for this special September webinar. Have you heard of Student Success Agency before? They safely connect students to their very own “Agents” for mentoring, tutoring, and postsecondary advising. Agents are available on-demand from students’ electronic devices, on campus or at home. Agents support students to become the best versions of themselves socially, emotionally, and academically. SSA also provides a valuable conduit between students, educators, and support services. With Student Success Agency, your staff’s capacity to connect with students and address individual needs is greatly expanded.

In the video above, you can learn a bit more about what Student Success Agency offers. I love this magical story that shows the powerful results of connecting a student with a mentor (agent) who can help them explore their passions. This video shares just one of a handful of stories demonstrating how effective support systems can be for students. You can learn more about Student Success Agency on their website, too.

I certainly hope you’ll join me for this special September webinar on 7 Ways to Turn Student Engagement into Student Agency. Use this link to uUse this link to watch the replay!
