Engage 2021 Virtual Conference for Educators

Engage by Kognity is a virtual conference for educators, by educators. You can curate your own pathway from dozens of live sessions, all hosted by expert teachers and industry leaders from around the world. I’m so excited to lead two sessions at this special event and share a free ticket with readers!

What will you find at Engage 2021? This virtual conference is action-packed with lots of great ways to connect with educators, learn something new, and get fresh inspiration for the school year. It takes place on February 4, 2021, and is now open for registration.

This virtual conference will include:

  • TED-style talks from world-renown keynote speakers
  • Workshops transforming theory to practice (including two I’m hosting!)
  • Panel sessions with experts and practitioners
  • Roundtable discussions to share your insights and network with peers

This event uses a virtual platform to facilitate meaningful interactions and make networking easy. The robust event schedule is easy to navigate, and encourages participation all from one browser tab!

Since I’m presenting two sessions at Engage 2021 and partnering with them to spread the word about the event, they gave me a unique code to share with you. This code will take the ticket price of the conference down to zero, so the first 100 people to use this code can join for free. You can use the link and code below to grab your spot at the event and save almost $100.

Benefits of a Virtual Conference

If you listened to a recent episode of my Easy Edtech Podcast, “Ways to Make EdTech Easier in 2021,” one of the tips was around personalizing your professional development to choose opportunities that meet your needs this year. If you are committed to seeking out professional learning opportunities related to your areas of interest, this event is perfect. I’m very excited to speak at their upcoming virtual conference about formative assessment, student voice, and creative activities for students.

Learn how to use a Digital Portfolio with students both inside (and outside) the classroom as you help them capture and share their learning.

During the conference, I’m hosting two sessions. Here are the details, along with the session descriptions:

12 Formative Assessment Tips to Elevate Student Voice

What does formative assessment look like in today’s schools? It’s not about taking a test, it’s about gathering information in real-time to make sure the needs of all students are being met. This session provides actionable information to make formative assessment meaningful (so it counts), sustainable (so it lasts), and scalable (so everyone in your school does it, too).

This interactive session isn’t about the tools, but how you use them to gather data that tells a story of student learning. You’ll walk away with practical tips to check for understanding with technology during whole class, small group, and individual lessons, including ideas for assessing project-based and inquiry-based approaches and ways to evaluate data and communicate results with families.

Interactive Student Journaling in Digital Spaces

Providing support for students during uncertain times can take many forms. Digital spaces give students ways to share their thoughts and feelings through a variety of media. With voice, video, narration, and images, students can create interactive journals to document their experiences.

In this session, Dr. Monica Burns will take you through strategies for setting expectations, creating digital spaces, and establishing a workflow for students. You’ll explore activity ideas, journal prompts, and more!
