Do your students conduct research and read informational text? Students of all ages can explore high-interest, nonfiction text, including elementary school-aged students. PebbleGo is the most popular research tool for elementary students, and there are several helpful features that you may not know about.
Regular readers of the blog may remember how I’ve spotlighted PebbleGo a few times in the past. I am a big fan of this online resource for K-3 teachers and students. I thought it would be fun to put together a list of a few things you might not know about this popular tool. From free resources to standards alignment, and informational text features to SEL resources, there is so much to spotlight!

Health and SEL Articles
PebbleGo Health is a new module packed with comprehensive health and SEL articles. Social-Emotional Learning is certainly a vital component of any classroom. It’s not a buzzword or a fad, but an essential part of a well-balanced plan for reaching all students. The team at PebbleGo now offers over 150 articles for students in Kindergarten, first, second and third grade. The PebbleGo Health articles connect to both state and national standards to help you address topics throughout your curriculum.

If you’re already a fan of PebbleGo, you know that many resources are packed into this online tool for students. With PebbleGo Read More, there are now two ebooks connected to every article in the Animals and Science section. So when students open up these resources, they’ll have additional content to explore.

Free Lesson Plans for Teachers
Although PebbleGo has a subscription-based model for schools, they also offer free lessons that rotate each month. This month of November, you’ll find an activity called “Veterans Day Origami Heart” to help students learn about the history and purpose of Veterans Day. If you look further down the page, you can find more free content to explore. This page includes content in both English and Spanish and different levels of elementary school-aged students (PebbleGo and PebbleGo Next).
Standards Correlation
When I’m reviewing resources for educators, one thing that is on my mind is whether or not there is a correlation to standards. PebbleGo has a page that allows you to check on standards correlation, too. How does this work? Use the dropdown menu on this standards correlation page to choose your set of standards. Then content that addresses this standard will pop up on your screen. This is a great way to find content that correlates with specific standards you are teaching students.
How-tos and Tutorial Videos
Within PebbleGo, you can access how-to and tutorial videos. These helpful resources can address any questions you may have about PebbleGo and also provide tips and insights into how to use this powerful platform. On this “How-to” page, you can locate topics like LMS integration and Google connections. And on this Video Tutorial page, you can find resources for administrators and teachers, too.
Informational Text Features
An essential part of helping students navigate digital spaces is introducing a variety of informational text features. So I was really excited to learn that there are range maps in the Animals articles and timelines in Biographies articles. What is a range map? This page gives an overview of where to find the range maps in PebbleGo. Essentially, a range map shares with students where in the world a particular animal lives. This visual is an excellent resource for talking to students about topics in the text.
Connected PebbleGo and PebbleGo Next Experience
Earlier this year, I shared Capstone Connect and how it makes it easy to find both PebbleGo and PebbleGo Next resources. How does it work? Capstone Connect helps teachers find educationally appropriate content for their class. It makes it easy to locate educational materials students will enjoy within the expansive Capstone collection of resources.
This content is standards-aligned and lets teachers pick and choose what they’d like to share with their students. There are thousands of resources for educators, including teaching resource guides and high-interest read aloud passages and activities for kids. The content is robust, engaging, and developmentally appropriate for K-5 students.
