Personalize How Your School Learns

As many of you know, I love connecting with educators all around the world. Although I do get the chance to travel to schools and regional events, I love how a webinar can bring people together from all corners of the globe. So you’re invited to a special webinar for educators and school leaders I’m hosting in partnership with Britannica Digital Learning.

On Thursday, January 31, 2019, at 4 PM EST, I’m hosting a webinar titled “Leading Transformation: Personalize How Your School Learns.” It’s a one-hour session with time for questions and an opportunity to earn a continuing education certificate for joining the event. A webinar is a great way to sit back and take in information, or actively engage in a chat or discussion on a topic. At the bottom of this blog post I’ll share three tips for making the most of your time viewing a webinar.

Personalize How Your School Learns

Here’s the official description for the webinar for education leaders, along with details on the specific points I’ll cover during the event. If you’ve thought about topics like student choice, creativity, and engagement of all learners, well this webinar is definitely for you.

Webinar for Educators

What makes a learning experience personal for students? And what is the outcome when schools create these experiences? This edWebinar will focus on how administrators, principals, and education leaders can personalize the learning happening in their school or district.

Join EdTech curriculum consultant, Dr. Monica Burns, for this special event. Dr. Burns will discuss how to make learning relevant, interesting, and exciting for students. She will share:

  • What makes students engage with learning in a personalized way

  • The outcome when school leaders provide opportunities for more personalized learning experiences

  • How educators can honor student choice and interest across subject areas

  • How schools and districts can empower students’ voices and give them the tools to communicate creatively

  • Ways you can give students access to “just right” resources this school year

This edWebinar is geared towards K-12 school and district leaders. Dr. Burns will answer your questions at the end of her presentation. You can use the link above to grab your spot for and join us on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at 4 PM EST.

Tips for Watching a Webinar

If you’re new to webinars or online learning, then attending a virtual event might feel a bit strange at first. A webinar definitely has a different feel than a live event, but there are lots of benefits. You can view from your own device in a quiet (or noisy space) and take notes and sip coffee as you like. Here are a few tips for watching a webinar.

In this webinar for educators you'll learn how to personalize how your school learns by creating high-interest, engaging activities on a range of topics.

Find a Quiet Spot

First, try to find a spot to view the webinar that isn’t too distracting. When you watch a webinar, you are usually muted, so it won’t matter if your dog is barking a bit too loud or the doorbell rings. That being said, it’s important to limit your distractions so you can focus on the content of the webinar.

Set Your Goals

Second, read over the webinar description and make a list of the top two things you hope to get out of the webinar. You might even jot down a few questions that content to your goal to learn about a particular aspect of the topic. If you don’t hear exactly what you hoped, or the webinar spends more time on other subtopics, post your questions in the chat area of the webinar to make sure you leave with answers.

Come Prepared

Third, come prepared with an afternoon snack, a cup of tea and a notebook. Of course, none of those items are actually necessary; it’s nice to have a drink and a pen within your reach so you can take a sip of water or jot down a new idea without having to scramble for the item you need at that moment.
