This fall I’m super excited to host a book club all about Tasks Before Apps: Designing Rigorous Learning for a Tech-Rich Classroom, my book from ASCD. Although I’ve talked to some educators who are hosting a Tasks Before Apps book clubs at their school, I wanted to make sure you had the opportunity to join a book club too! The Tasks Before Apps Book Club invites educators who are passionate about placing tasks before apps to make sure the learning in their tech-rich classroom stays front and center!

Tasks Before Apps Book Club
Would you like to join the Tasks Before Apps Book Club? Here are the details:
You can work at your own pace during the fall. There will be five questions posted throughout October and November. Anyone who joins the book club will have access to a special Flipgrid page where you can respond to the questions by recording video reflections right from Flipgrid’s website or using their mobile app. This means there are no real deadlines, instead I’ll give you a pacing guide and you can work at your own pace. In November, I’ll host a live Google Hangout to share a few new favorites and answer your questions!
The book club is free to join, all you have to do is show proof of purchase of Tasks Before Apps: Designing Rigorous Learning for a Tech-Rich Classroom. You might have a receipt from Amazon or ASCD if you ordered a copy of the book online. What if you already have a copy of Tasks Before Apps sitting on your desk right now? Just send us a picture to show you bought a copy of the book earlier this school year.
To join the book club:
- Purchase a copy of the book on Amazon or from ASCD
- Forward your receipt of the book (or a picture of the book sitting on your desk) to bria@classtechtips.com
As soon as you send your proof of purchase, we’ll send you:
- Special welcome message video!
- Three (3) Tasks Before Apps posters
When we kick off the book club on October 1st, we’ll send you:
- Five book club questions with target dates to help you pace your reading
- Link to the Flipgrid page where you’ll respond to the book club questions
- A “save the date” for our live Google Hangout
