My last years in the classroom were at an environmental stewardship magnet school. I certainly love digital tools that give students an opportunity to learn about biomes and animals. The Nature Maestro series of environmental apps introduce students to Earth’s biomes and animals through immersive audio and visual explorations. This series features Costa Rican rainforests and Glacier Bay, Alaska.
Nature Mastro lets students and adults use their creativity and imagination to create, compose, and share audio-rich soundscapes regardless of their age. They have access to authentic animal sounds recorded on location in North and Central America. Students can combine weather and animal sounds to create their own soundscapes. Each app also includes standards-aligned, project-based learning activities for classrooms and home schooling.
- Explore animal and weather sounds
- Connect to informational text or read alouds
- Extend a unit on different biomes
- Incorporate music into a digital storytelling creation
- Inspire students to learn more about different animals
The Nature Maestro apps are certainly easy to navigate and a great choice for making cross-curricular connections. There are also no in-app purchases or third-party advertising and Nature Maestro Expedition is COPPA-compliant.
Visit the Apple App Store to see the bundle or individual environmental apps from Nature Maestro!
