BrainPOP is one of my favorite tools for teachers. I recently became a Certified BrainPOP Educator! When I was in the classroom BrainPOP was a go-to resource for helping students understand complex topics. Their engaging movies are perfect for providing background information, building domain-specific vocabulary, and helping students better understand a concept. They have a new Make-a-Map tool I can’t wait to tell you about.
BrainPOP’s Make-a-Map Tool
BrainPOP has now added a powerful critical thinking tool to their platform – giving students a way to demonstrate their understanding and make connections. Make-a-Map provides students with a space to organize their thinking and show what they’ve learned. Students can use this tool to prepare for a writing activity or to aid their thinking as they explore a new topic. Teachers can ask each student to submit their concept map and it can certainly be reviewed as a formative assessment.
You might want to use this tool for a handful for different reasons. Students can organize their thinking on a wide range of topics. They can create a visual to share their thinking too.
