How Districts Can Streamline Canvas Onboarding and Course Registration – Bonus Episode with Jotform

In this episode, I chat with Luke Straub, Content Marketer at Jotform, about how districts can automate Canvas enrollment and streamline course registration. You’ll also hear how schools can add approvals, conditional logic, and email notifications to enrollment workflows, what different schools learned from moving away from paper forms, and what to know about student data privacy when connecting a form tool to an LMS. If you want to save time onboarding new students, summer learners, or staff in professional learning courses, this episode has you covered!

Tips for How Districts Can Streamline Canvas Onboarding and Course Registration

  • Map out the learners who fall outside your regular enrollment process, like summer program students, mid-year arrivals, and staff in professional learning courses, and use a Jotform registration form to get them into Canvas.
  • Put the integration’s two core actions to work: create a new student account in Canvas, or enroll an existing Canvas user in a course, straight from a form submission.
  • Start with a basic approval workflow so an administrator reviews new student account requests before any information goes into Canvas.
  • Add conditional logic to your workflow, not only your form, to filter submissions (like checking a course prerequisite) before they reach an administrator.
