Otus is a terrific free management app for teachers in one-to-one classrooms who want an easy way to keep track of student work, provide opportunities for collaboration, and so much more. I’ve had the opportunity to share Otus with my readers and webinar attendees and want to highlight one of the fantastic aspects of this powerful app – Otus is a free management app for students and teachers.
Free Management App
With Otus teachers can keep track of participation, send notes to students, and take attendance. They can also recognize student behavior by awarding points and group students. The bookshelf feature lets teachers organize folders of resources to share with students – this can be done for whole class, individual, or create groups of students. Otus gives teachers the power to create, assign, and grade assessments. It is also simple to share these assessments with colleagues who may wish to use the same one or modify it for their students.
In my work curating resources for teachers I’ve come across plenty of great products that have some features for free and others that ask users to sign up for a subscription. Otus is a social enterprise. Its mission is to level the playing field by making technology easy-to-use and more affordable for all school districts. This business model means that Otus will always be free with no advertising or sales. It’s hard to believe it but they have the funding to provide this resource to teachers completely FREE!
