WriteLab’s Chrome Extension for more than Spelling and Grammar

Are you using Chromebooks or laptops this school year? The folks at WriteLab have just released a free Chrome extension for spelling and grammar. Now teachers and students can clean and clarify their writing everywhere on the web. The Chromebook extension provides spelling and grammar feedback as you write emails and get ready to post on social media. This includes Gmail, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Tumblr.

If you haven’t heard of WriteLab before, it is a powerful online tool built by writing teachers for students and other teachers. With WriteLab students can upload or compose writing on any topic to WriteLab’s website and receive customized feedback. It offers immediate, constructive responses to writing. Students use WriteLab to help strengthen their writing and to access peer collaboration and teacher feedback.

WriteLab not only reviews your work for spelling and grammar, but also leaves it crisp and clear. Teachers and students can use the WriteLab Chrome extension to receive instant feedback on their writing anywhere on the Internet. All you have to do is download the Chrome extension on your web browser and when you are ready for feedback on your writing the extension will take you to WriteLab. You’ll then be able to see your text and comments in four areas: (1) Concision – concise and to the point, (2) Clarity – clear sentences, (3) Grammar – correct grammar, and (4) Logic – build strong arguments.

If you are in a school using laptops or Chromebooks this new Chrome extension from WriteLab will definitely come in handy. It’s so important that students understand how the learning in their classroom transfers to the real world. Using a browser-based tool like WriteLab’s Chrome extension can help students apply English Language Arts skills across subject areas and in real world contexts.
