EdTech Spotlight: 6 TinyBop Apps

When searching for new apps to share with teachers I often look for updates from my favorite companies. In this post we’re highlighting the work of TinyBop, a company that has created a host of fun apps for students and teachers. TinyBop apps provide virtual spaces for students to explore as they learn about new concepts.

These apps might be used to supplement reading experiences for students or to help children envision a concept that might feel trapped in a textbook. Each one is beautifully illustrated and brings the topic to life for students (and adults) of all ages!

TinyBop Apps for Kids

The Human Body

This app lets students see the different systems of the body including respiratory and digestive. Kids will watch food travel through the intestines and send sound vibrations through an ear canal.

Plants

Students can explore interactive dioramas of different ecosystems with the Plants app. As kids tap on the screen to learn the names of different plants they can also view labels in different languages.
Homes

Homes presents four different places that people live. Students can work their way through different screens in the app to learn more about the way people live across the world.

Simple Machines

With this app students can investigate the concepts behind simple machines. TinyBop’s website even has a PDF handbook to help extend learning outside of the app.

The Earth

The Earth app lets students travel through the different layers of the planet. Kids will see the impact of natural disasters and erosion on the Earth’s surface too.

The Robot Factory

This playful app gives users tools to build their own robot. Once students have implemented their design they can test the robots out in different situations.
